Since October of 2010, The Citizens Campaign has owned and operated an award-winning news site to serve the citizens of Paterson, New Jersey. Paterson Press is the go-to source for broad, unbiased coverage of the City of Paterson from the nitty-gritty daily operations of local government to aggressive investigations to hold public officials accountable, as well as positive stories that highlight educational achievements and community assets.

Under the leadership of award-winning investigative journalist Joe Malinconico, Paterson Press has received several awards from the New Jersey Society of Professional Journalists, including Best Independent Online News Organization and Best Online Public Service. In 2012, Paterson Press was the first online news publication to receive the Stuart Awbry Award for Excellence in Community Journalism. Paterson Press news and stories are hosted on the Gannett news media platform.

Joe Malinconico is a Bayonne-born “Jersey Guy” whose 20-year journalism career took him from being a copy boy at the New York Times to one of the State’s top investigative reporters at the Star-Ledger.  During his 13-year tenure at the Star-Ledger, Joe’s stories were credited with providing insight that led to reforms in transportation policy and the E-Z Pass system. Joe won the 1999 Dee Murphy Award and the NJPA’s Robert P. Kelly Award in 2007.  Joe is the author of “Shining Light in Dark Spaces” an absolute must-have guide for anyone covering local government.
