Members of the Newark Trust appeared before the Newark City Council with a package of policies meant to improve the quality of life in the city. The package includes a Monthly Code and Maintenance Survey, Socially Responsible Banking Ordinance, and Tree Donation Ordinance to fix infrastructure and beautify the city. The package was developed by the Newark City Trust with assistance from experts on the Law & Policy Task Force of the Citizens Campaign.

The presentation featured Trustees Munirah El Bomani, Jerome Young, Bill Bishop and Victoria Lowery. The city council responded with heaping praise and applause and agreed to work with the Trust toward adopting the various ordinances. A similar presentation was made by the Perth Amboy Trust to the Perth Amboy City Council on Monday, September 26th. The Trenton Civic Trust will be presenting a similar package to the Trenton City Council in the near future.
