PAVING THE WAY FOR CONTACT TRACER
EMAIL OR TEXT SCRIPT
We need you to communicate to your constituents the importance of responding to a contact tracer if they call. It is the best way for people to safeguard their own health, their family’s health and the community’s health and economy.
We ask that you email or text your constituents with the following note:
“If you receive a call from someone who identifies them self as a CONTACT TRACER, please answer it immediately and answer their questions. Your confidentiality is assured, and they will tell you how to protect your family and friends from the Corona Virus. Also, if you need infection prevention supplies, contact your local public health department.”

We also ask that you post the guide for preventing COVID19, found in the link below (in both English and Spanish), to your website and share via email and on social media. This guide was prepared with the advice of Dr. Stanley Weiss, Epidemiologist at Rutgers Medical School. Widespread adherence to these basic health protocols is essential to preventing a resurgence of Covid-19 in our cities.

HOW TO IDENTIFY SCAMMERS
Real contact tracers don’t ask people for their Social Security number, bank account number nor credit card information. If someone claiming to be a contact tracer asks you for such information, it is a scam. Also, beware of spam text messages that ask you to click a link. If a real contact tracer sends a text message, their message should only let you know that they will be calling. Text messages that say “Someone who came in contact with you tested positive or has shown symptoms for COVID-19 & recommends you self-isolate/get tested, click on the link” may be scams. Do not click on the link. If the contact tracer is real, they will call you.
